A Permanent Step Forward for the Healing Center

A new building has arrived at the Pyramid Lake Spiritual Healing Center.
We’ve purchased a permanent space for the work growing around Dean and the community garden. It is now on site.
This purchase was made possible by a generous donation from someone who learned from Dean and wanted to support the continuation of his work. It reflects something we’ve seen over time — people from different backgrounds, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, coming to listen, learn, and spend time with Dean, and then choosing to support what is growing here.
This step builds on steady progress. Last year, with community support, we created the walking path through the garden. The primary purpose of the path was to help Dean build strength by walking regularly, while also connecting his home to the sweat lodge and integrating with the developing garden space. It was a practical step that supported Dean’s wellbeing and the broader garden vision.
Now the building stands alongside that path, and our next steps are clear.
We’ve already seen why a permanent space matters. When we hosted the Gathering of the Great Basin, we hired tents to create a place for people to come together for teaching, food, and sharing. It worked well, but each gathering required building everything from scratch. A permanent structure reduces that effort and makes it easier to continue the work in a steady way.

The building provides a base. A place to gather. A place for teaching. Somewhere to store materials needed to support the garden and the activities around it. It strengthens what is already happening on the land and makes it easier for people to participate.
There is still work to do to make the building fully usable. Over the next few weeks we’ll prepare the surrounding area and begin setting up the interior so it can support gatherings and ongoing activity.
Support at this stage will make a real difference. Right now, help with the following would be particularly valuable:
- tables and chairs
- basic building and finishing materials
- soil, garden supplies and watering materials
- tools for setup and maintenance
- hands-on help with setup and caretaking
- financial support (click here)
If you’d like to help with materials, time, skills, or funding, please get in touch or visit the Healing Center website to learn more (click here).
This building gives the work a base. With a bit of support, it becomes a place for teaching, gathering, and community.
